What is your biggest challenge as an educator today
My Biology course was rewritten by the COVID-19 pandemic. The most important is how to help students acquire the knowledge and skills required in an online environment. Students learn best in a face to face environment. Both students and instructors found it difficult to adjust to the disruption of going from face-to–face to online.
Online, the main challenge for students is to be organized enough to keep up with the homework, chapter readings, videos lectures, homework, and laboratory assignments. My students’ success depends on their ability to organize their courses. My goal is to support student learning, regardless of the course structure.

How has the MindTap platform helped your course?
Although there are some improvements to MindTap’s revised version, such as the ability to associate quizzes and homework questions with textbook objectives (which is a good thing), the best improvement is the consistency of each chapter’s organization. There were many assignments to choose from, which could have led to long to-do lists for students. Students can plan their week by using the three “Learn it” activities, a homework assignment and a quiz in every chapter. This makes course organization and setup easier and more manageable.
